Celebrity Solstice Ushering in a New Era of Style
The spectacular new Celebrity cruise ship Celebrity Solstice sets sail in December of 2008. The famous cruise line has unveiled a number of innovative features that sets the 118,000-ton, 2,850-passenger ship apart from other similarly-sized vessels.
One of the most unique features is the introduction of a fresh art program onboard: glassblowing.
Celebrity has joined forces with world-renowned Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York, to host the traveling exhibit, the "Hot Glass Show." Here, three resident "gaffers", also known as glassblowing artists, will conduct live glassmaking demonstrations, lectures and workshops in a custom-designed outdoor studio, located on the ship's upper deck.
Some of the many innovative new features on the Solstice include:
The exclusive Lawn Club, a freshly manicured lawn on the highest deck of the
new ship. Guests can enjoy casual outdoor activities in a Country
Club-meets-the-high-seas atmosphere.
AquaClass cabins, 192-square-ft. staterooms with 53-square-ft. balconies, are aimed at passengers who want a relaxing, luxurious spa-oriented vacation.
The restaurant Blu, featuring healthful cuisine and operated by Elizabeth Blau, who operates a Las Vegas-based restaurant consultancy and is known for creating upscale eateries for high-end hotels including Vegas' Bellagio, Miami's Setai and Cabo San Lucas' One & Only Palmilla.
The suites that are offered on the Celebrity Solstice follow the traditional Celebrity categories such as Penthouse, Royal, Celebrity and Sky, and feature enhanced amenities and services for the discriminating traveler. These will feature luxury extras such as packing and unpacking; full menu meal service for breakfast, lunch and dinner; and free espresso and cappuccino.
